Episode 54: Go Shawty, It's Your Birthday: Our First Podcast Birthday
We can't even believe we're here at the one year mark of this podcast. What started as a far fetched dream born over coffee and breakfast scramblers has one year later turned into a passion project neither one of us could imagine life without.
We've learned so much this past year. We've learned how to work microphones and recording software. We've learned how to have conversations that reflect our real life phone calls while being mindful of the fact that other people are part of the conversation. We've learned how to work together as friends and creative collaborators. We've learned how to build a website (thanks to Squarespace) and navigate newsletter sending. We've learned how to add this side project into the mix of work, home life, marriage, and self care. But most importantly, we've learned how to take ideas of all sorts and put them to action. Seeing The Kitschy Kountdown go from a nebulous idea to living breathing (okay not really breathing) creation has just been the coolest thing.
Yet, as much as we have learned, there's still SO much more we haven't even touched yet. Sometimes this feels daunting. Maybe you can relate. You feel like you've gained traction in a certain area of your life and then you look around or too far ahead and feel discouraged at how far you have left to go. We're trying to practice what we preach in this area and encourage ourselves (and you) to celebrate how far we've come and take small, effective, sustainable steps to get us where we want to go. We are SO excited about the future of The Kitschy Kountdown. When we think about all we've done in our first year, we're excited to dream up what we can do in the upcoming year and the year after that. We're trying to balance big picture big dreams with just doing the next thing to get where we need to be.
So, here's to how far we've come and how far we will go. And here's to you for being along with us on this ride. We value your support more than you know. We read every single review you leave. Every DM you send us on Instagram. Every text or comment you make in person. Our goal for this show is to create a culture where we can come together and discuss the trivial aspects of life like beauty and home care, and transition just as seamlessly into more thoughtful discussions on faith, family, and friendships with the candor and humor that comes with being lifelong friends. We are so thankful you've chosen to let us fill your earbuds each and every Monday and we look forward to how we can grow as a community as this adventure continues.
Now pretend we're all gathered around the dinner table together for an intimate gathering with our closest friends to celebrate this milestone. Raise your glass as we make a toast to one year down and many more to come!
