Episode 11. The Couple That Dates Together Stays Together: Date Night Ideas For All Pocketbooks
Conveniently categorized into three groups (per the usual), we delve into all kinds of date night ideas on this week’s episode. We know that spending uninterrupted, focused time with you <3 boo <3 is the not-so-secret secret to a thriving marriage or dating relationship. So whether it’s dinner, fireworks, an exoctic animal zoo, or just the plain ol’ Jane movie, we explore opportunities for those strictly budgeted and share some ideas for the free flowin’ cash type. Grab a babysitter or not, get dolled up or not, and let us know how those date nights go!
Here are some additional ideas that KB forgot to mention and has since thought of: watching airplanes land at Founder’s Plaza/your local airport (dreamy!), browsing the library together (so so free), and GaMe NiGhT.
She Ain’t Got No Money In The Bank
Frozen pizza + Netflix. It’s cliche, but we would be remiss if we didn’t include this quintessential date night idea in this list.
Go hiking. You don’t have to go overboard and buy something crazy, like hiking shoes, but a short day trip to a nearby hiking trail can be a fun day-date.
Work up a sweat together. The couple that sweats together, stays together.
Friday night fireworks (for all you DFW-ians, Grapevine Lake does fireworks on Friday nights in the summer). Go back to simpler days and take blankets, grab a sno cone, and watch on the tailgate of a truck.
Dolla Dolla Bills, Ya’ll
Blast your favorite playlist, have a glass of wine, and enjoy cooking a fancy dinner together. This date night is two fold, you could take the “getting all dolled up approach” or keep it low key and rock those sweat pants.
You can live with someone and not be tuned into their life, so carving out time to spend together is vital to staying connected. We felt this point was important enough for it’s own sub-point.
Mexican food + patios + margarita/white sangria + queso + talking for hours = perfect date night. Top it off with a trip to a coffee shop for the perfect end to the perfect night. ¡Olé!
Paddleboarding. It’s a fun afternoon activity that can be done anywhere. Enjoy the sunshine with your beau with this active afternoon date!
Dinner + a movie. Again, cliche, but needs to be said. You could make this your “thing” and go to Barnes and Noble afterwards and read sitting next to each other. However, this will spark the ethical dilemma regarding the official rules of Barnes and Noble causal reading, so be prepared for that.
Stacks On Stacks On Stacks
Have a swanky date night with a fancy dinner + a show (think Dracula in October or The Nutcracker around Christmastime).
Channel your inner sushi ninja by making your own rolls while sipping yummy cocktails at a sushi making class.
Vacation together. Take it above date night to date day, and a night, and another day, and another night… You could even do a staycation in your own town for just one night. Splurge for room service to make it extra-luxurious.
Lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my! Have fun at an exotic animal park for your chance to have your picture made with a miniature horse...
- Cheer on your favorite team with your favorite man *insert catchy cheer here.*
